Parent Association
The Parent Association is a parent participatory body, similar to PTO at other schools. If you are the parent or guardian of a Giddens student, you are automatically a member of the Parent Association. The Parent Association presents and sponsors schoolwide events and parent education programs throughout the school year, and smaller, theme-focused gatherings. Get involved by participating in committees, attending events and programs, working with school staff to plan and implement activities, and by volunteering your time on a variety of school projects.
Each family in the Giddens family community is asked to contribute a minimum of 25 hours of volunteer time to the school. Many families contribute much more. Community volunteerism is a way to model community activism for our students, while providing much-needed support for the school. The influence of volunteers is seen in every aspect of the school, from our community garden to our school events. As we work together, our diverse backgrounds and experience combine to create new ideas and excitement that help shape our community.
The skills and strengths that families bring to Giddens are a celebrated resource. We try to match the needs of our school with the strengths you offer. To help us make the best match, families are asked to complete a Volunteer Response Form before the start of the school year, which includes the volunteer opportunities available at Giddens. For more information, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Casey Moot.
