Vanessa joined Giddens in 2013, inspired by the school's focus on critical thinking, creativity, and social justice. She realizes that being human is a really strange phenomenon, especially when there's a lot of us together. The rules, beliefs, and rituals we create can range from beneficial, to arbitrary, to extremely harmful. That's why she believes that we should use critical thinking to make sense of it all, creativity to make the most of it, and the collective application of the two as an approach to social justice. Vanessa graduated from UC Santa Barbara in Ethical Philosophy and Economics, and has made it her life's purpose to merge the two fields.
